Eight is daring and loud, with biting humour and exhilarating power that thumps throughout the script. Consisting of eight monologues, Eight examines the impact of a sex, image and commerce-obsessed society. Themes surrounding inequality, first love, war trauma, Tracy Emin, infidelity, The Archers, cocaine and grief are explored through radically different characters. In the 10 years since premiering at Bedlam, Eight appeared in New York and the West End, winning awards and critical acclaim. Now, EUTC is bringing it back to the stage where it all began. An amateur production arranged with Nick Hern Books, written by Ella Hickson.

The history of eight

Eight premiered at Bedlam Theatre in 2008, and went on to win awards and international acclaim from New York and West End performances. 10 years later, the Edinburgh University Theatre Company is delighted to bring Eight back to the stage where it was first performed.
